Almost nothing is done so far because of how complex it is, but a preview:

And the current sprites:

Looks awesome, love that game. Does the game have problems with irregular solid tiles like that?

Do want. This game is awesome.
However, Cave Story has a lot of slants and Mari0 doesn't support those yet.

I handled the no-curves rule by making the slight curves non collidable and the larger ones collidable.

It's not really a big deal, honestly.

While quite clever, it will mean you have quite obvious drops and jumps in the landscape. You may want to make all the slants look more like stairs, instead of just slopes.

I'll think about. In-game it's not as big of a deal, but that does make sense.

's/yet/ever/'
by definition Mari0 is designed at first as an SMB recreation - only square tiles in smb.

I'm flattered!

Rest assured, this will get done, just it will take awhile. Plus, I have some other Mari0 projects to do aswell, like Pipe Dreams, featuring thin pipes, un-portleable pipes and more.
