Hello everyone, I'm new to the forums so forgive me if I have any kind of mistakes in this thread.
I'm happy to introduce my mappack that I'm working on for the past 2 weeks or so,
Super Mario Bros. Premium Version!

So why is it "Premium" anyways? Well it will include,
- 8 Unique Worlds
- 32 Well-made Custom Stages, Guarantied!
- New Enemies from Alsean99's Entities
- Vertical Stages!
- Airship Levels, who dosen't like that?
- Custom Musics!
- Custom Tilesets and Backgrounds!
- It's free!

Please note that this mappack is still in alpha stage, and things may be changed in the future.

Made using Alsean99's Entities Ver.0.8.0, The latest version dosen't launch on my MacBook Air.
(Forgive me about the music in the desert world, I will fix it soon.)

I really need some help with custom backgrounds. To be honest, I am TERRIBLE with Pixel Art, and having some struggles making my own tiles or backgrounds. That is why 90% of the graphical stuff used in this mappack is from the forums or other mappacks.(I am temporary using some of the backgrounds from a mappack called 0'Brothers. It is one of the best mappacks, so check it out.)
Currently I need my own custom backgrounds for,
-Desert World
-Night time ocean
-Volcanos
-Forest
-Mountains(Something like in SMW)
People who helped me will get their names somewhere in the mappack.

I'm Japanese, so forgive me if I have any English mistakes.
Any kind of feedback will be appriciated!

I bet that a few of the levels' inspiration are from the the hacks I gave you!
Anyways, keep up the good work!


(The SMB1 Hacks 'Extra Adv 1~5 ' have good level design, if you need ideas.)

I downloaded the mappack awhile back. I absolutely love it.

YAY. Another Mf064 review:


That desert level was a bit challenging, but eh, that's a good thing in my book. Also, some parts of the level feel empty, but it makes sence since there is the Angry Sun following you around. (Not a bad thing)

The vertical castle level is something I never really see being used with the A99 mod. I'm glad someone found away to make it work. It could use a little bit of a design change (thwomp placement), and perhaps a different background.

The 1st level is the best one out of all of them. The music choice is very catchy, the background goes very well with the tileset, and nothing is placed to feel out of the ordinary. However, some parts of the level feel very empty. May I recommend the use of more grass and clouds? I dunno. That's just me.

Final Thoughts (May change in future releases of this map):


I hope the best of luck for this mappack, and that it won't fall into unfinished hell like most 8 World 32 Levels mappacks. It looks very great so far. Keep up the good work. 8/10 for now.

By the way, the eye candy in the photos look REALLY pleasant, just so you know.

Thanks BarbarianKabbage, for pointing out something really obvious. Hey! Did you know Mari0 has sprites from SMB1, but with an 8-bit Portal gun slapped on Mario's arm? Did you know that the Portal Gun concept comes from the game Portal? What shameful sprite-stealling idea-ripping assholes. I bet Mari0 is a really shitty game because they couldn't come up with something original. I'm not even going to download it before coming to the conclusion that this game is just another shameless fan game. I'm just going to jump to conclusions and say that Mari0 is a complete waste of internet server space.

BarbarianKabbage said that because he thought the backgrounds were taken without credit (It is stated they're from 0'brothers in the "i need Help" section though).
I doubt those backgrounds are just as "obviously" recognizable as mario and portal so no need to be rude.

Personally I don't care if someone uses Alesan99's entities. Though I do feel like people are using it too often to create map packs and not giving vanilla Mari0 a chance.

Map packs like O'Brothers didn't require any mandatory entitity-adding mod to be a major success, but I digress.
