We should remake this when Mari0 SE comes out, because of the custom text boxes, and the event system for dialogue (If that's what can still be done...).

While on the subject of 1-4, not every castle level needs to end with a Bowser confrontation; it can end with a flag and still take the player to 2-1.

That list by Dark[Ol(U23)leneri] is missing a couple of other ideas I had, like the "Misleading Level Themes" (Night Before Christmas) level. Any "enemy spam" level can be summed up with the current 1-2.

I knew that already, (a la outside the box, which had only one bowser battle) but his level was already castle themed, so I just added bowser.

My WIP secret mappack Mari0 Paint uses scroll factor 9 (granted the tiles make the illusion that it's not) so maybe we can tie that into bad background, but I dislike scroll factor 0 more.

But I dislike some of these suggestions and the whole "laws to making mari0 maps" thing though since a lot of this is just preference. A map can be excellently done but just not be your style, or how you'd want to make a map yourself. We really shouldnt forget that or it will just turn into a big, stuffy, "complaining about maps we dont like" sort of thing.

For example, Mario Exploration is probably one of my absolute favourite maps. It seems like the kind of hilariously crazy maps people here keep trying to make but fail to do. Not having checkpoints feels like the point. And the overabundance of shell puzzles or still seems to be a how much you can tolerate kind of thing.

I think we should stick to things that are objectivity, inherently bad at map packs Stuff like badly executed puzzles and terribly designed levels and such. or at the very least, point out that there /is/ a good way to do some of these things and a bad way.

You know what this mappack need? A stereotypical super hard underwater level combine with super hard puzzle level! Just imagine it: pushing buttons and shoting portal while doging fishes and octpusues. If you agree, i can make it :3

And that's why using the 0'brothers tileset for the "shell challenge" level is a bad idea: then it's not a "Don't make stupidly hard shell challenges", not even a "Don't make any shell challenges", but "Don't make 0'brothers", so basically a "Fuck you" to Baf.

I wasn't saying the idea was bad, but I don't know how we can have the player play the mappack and in 100% of cases, say to himself "Hey, that level lacked checkpoints.".

I wanna do checkpoints in sublevels and plagiarism one.

I still dont see the problem with the shell puzzle map (it was pretty fun ) or unportalable everything (that's just a level style I can see being used in good ways)

Maybe change it from shell puzzles to "puzzles that use enemies and have no reset pipes", since I got stuck when I ran out of enemies to use.
