I've ran out of gimmicks to modify with the original entities, I hope to make more with SE. It'll be easier to get graphics on them, too. The cursors are cool ideas as enemies, but requires too much modding than I want to get into if SE will have easier ways to do so. I guess it is sort of getting in some people's ways, but only people who want more unique and diverse mappacks

And I'm sure Maurice is going to release it, he's not gonna keep everyone updated on his changes, finish it, then only give it to Sašo and laugh in everyone's faces

With how much he is bitching about it, I would imagine Maurice would do something along the line of banning Turret's IP from Stabyourself.net on the release of SE so everyone but him can enjoy the game and laugh in his face.

I know I would.

there are too many loopholes that the idea is stupid already, I mean I could literally just walk on down to a library and get it.

Here's a video of 1-1, I finally got a decent screen recorder that doesn't lag, but for some reason YouTube couldn't get the sound

Something here, not much. Made this during free time on semester exams

Warp Zone! Might put it on M-1, since others are starting to do it. Folders are now the replacements for tubes, and make a new sound effect as well

I need to rework it somehow of the HUD is visible

They actually do effect gameplay.

I made a mappack that had no graphics and it was really hated on.
Put some graphics, made it look nice, and some people actually started liking it.

Graphics make everything better.

Custom Mario colors! They are the four Windows flag colors, plus purple because that was the only remaining color

Well, there was one more color, but it doesn't fit in too well

So in a nutshell: Mario with the original Windows 16-bit palette.

The Cyan could work in other mappacks, though.

Sorry if I'm going off topic here with this, but considering how it's a game that uses the original Windows and it's corresponding color palette which this map pack is built on, does anyone around here know about this puzzle game called "Kye"?

I've never heard of it, but it looks interesting

Also, I've been thinking about either replacing Spinies or the Mushrooms with a CD, but there are some issues:
If Mushrooms, how will I make the two different, and what would the Star and Flower be to match these powerups
If Spinies, the walking version of them would look awkward as just a CD, but their ball form looks fine, though

I'm leaning more towards Mushrooms, though

EDIT: Actual Windows! That small one took forever to make, so making more will be hard

that's a good improvement but I don't think it'd work good in the normal levels.
But the bowser fight rooms NEED to say "critical error: fighting bowser"
Other than that, you should use pop-up windows in the "castles" maybe as little bonus areas found through secret warps

Just to point it out, that big thing isn't just one object of tiles, the front one is the actual thing, I just stacked them because Windows 98 tended to do crap like that

I hope to get a new version of the mod and mappack up sometime this week. I'm not sure how much will be different in the mappack level wise, but there will be the updated tile set, which I will post below. It needs some slight additions still. I completely reordered a lot of things to make more room and have tiles that fit together be next to each other. I also remove doubles of tiles that are used in more than one object

EDIT: Everything is now up to date

Those don't look bad in normal levels to me.

Although as an idea, maybe only add the error boxes in the later levels? Like the computer is fine and as you progress the system gets more and more glitchier and corrupted.

I think I will add the errors later on in the levels, it sounds like a good idea. I can start putting them in 1-4 when I start making it

I'm just about ready to post the updates, all I need to do is replicate the levels since the current ones are random tiles now since I rearranged the tiles. Also updating the current levels a little, too. 1-1 had another upgrade, it's a little easier to beat now

Those were the wrong tiles. Look in the Tileset (whatever it's name is) for Minesweeper tiles. Sorry about the 7 being purple. I got the tiles from a Minecraft Mod.

Turret Opera stole my idea of Minesweeper tiles. The 7 in mine was purple rather than Black. And the 8 was Black rather than Grey.

All the levels that I wanted for the next release are up to a playable point now and all tiles are now fixed because of my moving them around in the tile.png. All I want to do now is fix up some tiles and I'll release it

Also, playing with the idea of Minesweeper puzzles, but no promises

Sorry for the double post, but downloads to the new version are uploaded! I did end up doing a Minesweeper puzzle (which was very hard to set up, or I'm stupid) and will probably only look appealing with the mod, but is beatable without it. The game tends to load slightly slow likely because of the tileset

(Also in main post)

EDIT: Forgot to say, I'd really like feedback on the Minesweeper puzzle in any way possible

That minesweeper level was awesome. However, I would suggest turning the time limit off for it, as it requires some thinking and a time limit doesn't help there.

Also Mod-wise, I like it but I highly recommend adding some sort of music. Also I didn't like how every level had the "windows98 startup sound" play at the beginning. Just got annoying.

Other than that I find both the mappack and mod both really awesome and I hope you continue this.

I was thinking about it earlier, the noise does get a bit annoying after every level. I think I'll add it just to the title screen and then try to find some actual music

I wasn't a fan of the startup music either.

As for the Minesweeper level, my only criticisms aside from are the lack of a reset "pipe" (a folder that has a filename "Reset" on it) and maybe block off the area past the puzzle so the mischievous player can't do this:

It's a common trick I pull off, you place two portals on the same wall and use them as stepping stones up a wall.

On a similar topic, maybe a small atlas window that shows which button triggers which tile on the Minesweeper board? The first time I didn't read the message box so at first I just pressed the buttons blindly.

I'll try to make it easier to tell how the buttons match up soon, but for now, I completely remade the level so it works better now. The tiles are no longer able to be reflipped to question marks (the bomb tiles were like this in the old version) and it's more organized (in my eyes) on the unseen parts of the level. The problems I'm now facing are I don't know what I'll do to get the New folder to open and the page slightly scrolls now because of the slightly moved positions. It's still possible to get above the level, but now it's much much harder

Image

EDIT: The New folder door now opens when all of the mines are showing
