[WIP] The Flow of Time
The Flow of Time! (A mappack in progress)
Well, I was bored and decided to make some maps. Later I got the idea for this concept. Thus, a new mappack idea was born!
Now, I'm not much of a devoted mappack maker or something, but I sure did enjoy making this and got some positive feedback on it. So I decided to post it here with the intentions of completing it.
'Seasons change, time passes by. As the weeks become the month become the years~!'
You play the same level over and over. Unfortunately (or should I say fortunately? :p) time did a number on this level. Each time (level) you go through, time will have battered the level and will change how you experience it.
Download: The Flow of Time
Note: Sadly only four levels long at the moment and the portal gun doesn't really come into play just yet.
Things coming:
- Sublevels. As the surface becomes more and more hostile, you'll eventually have to find another way...
- Minor Puzzles. The terrain will get harder to go through, this portal gun should proof useful!
- Background images. It's getting dark out here...
- Portal Elements. So she was behind all of this?!
- And perhaps some more.
I don't know if I should continue this head on, so I will politely ask for some advice, idea's or suggestions. But most importantly: Have Fun!
Update 1: Is it getting hot in here? Oh... I see. Fourth Level Added.

Anyways, great job! I'll like to see this finished.

This is a great idea! +1 to see it finished.
I really like this idea. Keep it up!
Apparently this place is polluted alot, unless each level is like every 50 years...
Don't make the changes too drastic in the first world. Place another level after 1-2 and move the other two levels up one.
After that the drastic changes will be fine, but otherwise great pack! =)
Also some suggestions for future levels:
- Enemies should just stop at one point, then somewhat drastically increase afterwords as the level becomes wilderness.
- Also near the end of the mappack the level would be full of tree stumps, because people cut down forests which I assume the level will become.
- The mucky stuff should rise just enough to get into a sublevel, making that sublevel an underwater area.
- It needs a bonus room. As the origin level is beat up so is the bonus room, and eventually the walls will break and going past them will be key to beating the level.

but if there were slow changes it would get boring and repetitive.Turret Opera wrote:Apparently this place is polluted alot, unless each level is like every 50 years...

Earthquackes? Don't you mean earthquakes?FaycalMenouar wrote:earthquackes
He clearly means Earthquacks, where giant ducks (with duck hats) come waddling through and shake the ground and destroy everything in their way.LightningFire wrote:Earthquackes? Don't you mean earthquakes?FaycalMenouar wrote:earthquackes
On topic; This mappack looks good, I'll be giving it a try later.

Sheesh, I'm sorry I didn't make you laugh with that joke I made. Excuse me for trying to be witty about a spelling mistake. And I didn't know you weren't American. :/FaycalMenouar wrote: this is not funny dude , u know i'm not english nor americain to speak or right english corectly and yes u meant earthquakes
On Topic: Tried the mappack out, and I enjoyed it. The concept was very interesting, and I enjoyed how each level brought changes. I hope you continue with this.

Logic . i suggest a transformation to a portal level ( as if glados took over the place )Qcode wrote:I liked the map, the only thing that got me was the inclusion of bullet bills on the third level. Surely there wouldn't be bullets in the third level, as people have already left the place to rot by then. Nobody would be adding things.

I suck at platformers too.
Can I use the tileset for my own level?
EDIT: I mean like 4+ levels, like yours.

Played this mappack listening to Pink Floyd!
WIN! also, I can't ger past 1-3.
I keep falling in the mushrooms part,
but not off one of the mushrooms, no. NEVER.
I fall trying to get on the mushrooms, or making the jump out.

Great mappack, still.
level 2 reminds me of castlevania.

You appear to have updated it without updating the mappack.

Not to bump or anything but Jorichi are you still working on this? If no then can I continue it?
I have stopped working on it, as making puzzles isn't really my strongest point and it was a bit in conflict with the platforming flow this map has.
But I have been thinking of picking it up lately, and how.
I can do one of the following:
- Continue it as planned; Making the portalgun more and more necessary to get through the levels.
- Make it a mappack that's available on release of SE, showing the new content, possibilities and options.
- Keep the focus on the platforming with a good flow.
I will continue it the way you guys want.
I'll do my best to show as much progression as I can, even though it's likely to be very slow.

I think this is an idea that definitely needs to be explored more. It's too interested to be eventually forgotten.
I'm personally making a mappack with these now, trying to explore the "time passage" thing as far as I can take it.
As for what you should do, those are all great options. I'm fine with any of them.
Also, once again. Great tileset.

Sorry for the bump... I'm making a time-themed planet-mari0-shader-using map using this tileset, it may never get done. I have too many mappacks.
Eh, this was a topic deserving of a bump anyways. And I'd love to see that! You have anything yet?bubba_nate wrote:Sorry for the bump... I'm making a time-themed planet-mari0-shader-using map using this tileset, it may never get done. I have too many mappacks.
