Don't remind me about the shadow.

So, what is Terminal?

This is Terminal, my pet project for about a few weeks now. I should probably explain what it's going to have, and what it has now.
Terminal is going to be a fast paced, almost Super Meat Boy-esque mappack, focusing on travelling at breakneck speeds through a spartan landscape, and achieving the best level times. The mappack will have levels that require precise platforming, simple puzzles to overcome, and constantly holding down the right arrow.
When I've released the full version, I'll set up a leader board on this forum. However, it may be difficult to create proof besides a YouTube video.
The mappack will also feature (very much in the style of Super Meat Boy) incredibly difficult versions of each level, called "X" levels. They will also have an incredibly restrictive time limit that requires a virtually perfect run through the level.

Come on, where are your screenshots?

I've gone one better, I've got a trailer. Thank you so much for producing this trailer for me, Dilster3k.

Yeah, I know it's called Vel0city in the trailer. That was the old name when this trailer was made.

How far are you with it, and what is it going to have at the end?

It's going to have:
  • At least 10 normal levels and X levels.
  • A completely unique tileset (I'm having TONS of fun messing around making translucent blocks).
  • An original song to go with the mappack. Right now it uses "Flight Of The Bumblebee", which is what you're hearing in the trailer, and it is a temporary solution for now.
  • And an icon.
What it has now:
  • 2 levels and 1 X level. Here's proof:
Level 01: Right Arrow Is Your New Best Friend
    Image
    Level 02: Simple Logic
    Image
Level 01X: Right Arrow Will Hurt You And Your Family
When I say the X levels are hard, I mean they are really damn hard. You will get no icons to help with jump timing, the layout is changed slightly to make it really unfair, and the time is reduced so you have to make a literally perfect run, or else you will run out of time. I made a perfect run on this level to test, and I had only 1 in game second left, which is about 0.4 real seconds.

  • An almost complete tileset. Whoa, more proof (you should note that I'm not even considering letting other people use this tileset until it's fully released):
    Image
  • An icon. WHOA, even MORE proof:

When will I get to play it?

I am planning to release the full mappack in episodic content, releasing part 1 (which will be levels 01-04 and 01X-04X) at some point. I don't want to say when it'll be released, because I'm doing tons of other things at the moment, Mari0 and otherwise.

How many mappacks you are making at once?

I'm currently working on the music for each level, and I'm currently at a roadblock with the feel of the piece. Do I make a really calm, drum and bass centered piece of music, something like Super Monkey Ball 2 - Under the Ocean, or do I make it really fast paced, like Ikaruga - Butsutekkai?

I really like the Super Monkey Ball idea, but I'm really unsure whether or not it will really work. In Super Monkey Ball, careful, precise platforming was key, but in my mappack, you'll be travelling really fast the majority of the time. I don't know if that will ruin the music.

MAN, I haven't heard that Super Monkey Ball song in a long time. I've always loved that game...
ANYWAY
Yes, the softer theme sounds like it would be nice. Something like Aquarium Park from Sonic Colors. I don't think it would ruin the pace at all.

Something nice like Super Monkey Ball had would probably work really well, as a wild card I'd also say some techno trance or house would work well as you went with that 'futuristic' neon tron-like look.

Try playing what you've already got with something like:

Well "We Need To Go Deeper" is the one I'm focusing on the most at the moment. "The Gauntlet" is pretty much complete, and this is a side project (as I said, this is going to be in development for a very long time).

Are you still working on this? If not, can you please give us what you made? (why do so many good projects die?)

I didn't, Dilster3k did. Give him the credit.

It's currently on hiatus. I'm waiting for the release of SE to continue with this, because I'd love to use the vvvvvv gel on some levels. Don't worry, it's not dead.

I think that is appropriate here. Also simply saying "hurry up" doesn't really make someone want to hurry, usually it makes them take longer.

i didn't read the : it's currently on hiatus blah blah thing . and about that Hurry up . why not ? if someone asks to hurry on doing something it'd a pleasure ! just to satisfy that person . talking about me

Why not make this a "small" mod, just for levels name, like the small text that Maurice add in the first 2 mappack

because it's incredibly rude to tell someone to hurry up (and ignore what they say while I'm at it.) on something that takes time and effort to do,
it doesn't encourage them it adds stress.

(Sorry for necrobump, but I have a question)
Since this isn't getting updated ever, can we use the tiles?
