EDIT: Okay, now that I've heard the song (computer has virus, at library with headphones) I realize that it's the same tune as deep inside
EDIT2: I compared it and deep inside to fire castle, which also distinctly sounds like the two. You really like that tune don't you? Why do you keep using it?
Baf, you said you made custom mario sprites. Can we see them?
The music can kind of be related, but that's it.
At least you don't have completely unrelated music in each setting.

Edit: The only similarity seems to be how it starts.

Well, hodyadoo everyone. Been a while since we last talked about this mappack.

If you don't mind Baf, since I have a lot of experience in designing maps myself, I dug deep into 0'Brothers and nullified some of the more tricky parts that Renhoek pointed out in his critique of the map. I didn't do much with the shell puzzles, but I "patched" some of the jumping and "Small Mario Only" parts, and for those not playing the 0'Brothers mod, I added in a different custom track that's in pure 8-bit.

http://www.mediafire.com/?6xlxf1acjc55ysj

I'll do more changes later.

Oh what, you think that laughing thing with the spikes and threatening me is going to solve anything? Besides, most other Mari0 map packs on earth have not been given any love, even the ones that don't rely on cryptic puzzles (including mine, A0zora) ever since you've created 0'Brothers. This map pack is one of, if not the most over-hyped maps yet, and in the end, it ended up being a next to disappointing payoff. Only because of the scenery porn (which is a good thing, as few other mappacks have demonstrated such) and the trailers that promised great things, yet many of us found the overused shell puzzles very repetitive.

I know you can create a good mappack, as you've demonstrated (says Maurice), but I suggest you start from scratch and devote the entire thing to just normal platforming with the Portal Gun for crossing specific areas normal jumps cannot cover. Don't be afraid to use Portal entities; as I can see you using Faith plates, Light Bridges, and Lasers to create some clever stages. You only should have to have four shell puzzles in the entire game.
xXxrenhoekxXx wrote:I don't get it :S
Your critique a few posts back. Next to impossible jumps, one-block length platforms, unforgiving shell puzzles, checkpoints JUST after the starting point, Bullet Bills spawn-killing you in 4-1, Reset pipes not in every area, Small Mario only areas, and 8-2's "glitch level" where you can't even tell what you're doing.

Oh,.. Thanks. Sorry if I got a little carried away there. I usually tend to take jokes too seriously around here. :<

But in retrospect, it's your choice whenever you want to change/edit the map pack and create an upgrade, I was just giving out an "easy version" in response to the criticisms Renhoek gave in regards to the map pack and for those that wanted the custom song to be in true 8-bit, just incase they weren't playing with the 0'Brothers mod.

The new music isn't my creation; I recorded it from the NES pirate game Jing Ke Xin Zhuan. I found it to have a very similar style to the standard 0'Brothers custom music, so I put it in.

I won't post any new videos for now, because it takes to much time.
The next videos will be the Super 0'Brothers Trailer.

It's funny because I'm actually making a remake of 0'Brothers for the SE (still 8-bit but with new stuff, still hard but with more checkpoints, so it will be easier).
And I really want to add new puzzles to replace the annoying ones, you know... those with shells.

So, I hope 0'Brothers SE will be cooler this way and Super 0'Brothers should be awesome.

May I add my two cents?
Some of the shell puzzles are actually really cool, in my opinion. I think only the tedious ones should go. The good ones give the mappack a unique flavor.

I have to replace many shell puzzles because koopas doesn't remains into their shells more than five seconds in Mari0 SE.
The mappack is difficult enough, and teleporting walking koopas is not very easy.

It won't be hard to mod.

Good point. I wish Maurice made an easier modding system. we could put mods in maps instead of modding the actual game...

Why?
I kind of agree if it crashes the game.
I find it acceptable if you program it into the mod you want it in, that way it only is used in the mods you want it in, and it won't crash the game.

I just find it annoying because sometimes I just want to play a map without having to run a mod with it.

And there's so many that require mods to play.

Well a good number of mappack's on here don't require you to play with a mod, only if you want edited graphics and music. This is why with my personal mod, I only built onto existing features so an unmodded Mari0 can still do the job.

Maurice has stated he added 0'brothers as dlc and I don't think you can get beta access by making a map,
otherwise I'd be using it right now.

Yeah ! i mean if Maurice trusts Baf enough he can give him SE early so that Super 0'Brothers will be released at the same time with SE

He already did, I'm working on it since july.

But it so hard to making a mappack into a beta... I'm not sure the game will be ready the day SE will be released (even if nobody knows when this day will come).
