this is awesome! not went through all of it, but this is a great masteriece!
but i think i found a bug, if you die in world 2-1(actually 2-1_1 cuz 2-1 is just an intermission), when you start again the level, it has no background, just plain black.
forgot to say i downloaded the mod version, so i dunno if this bug happens in the mappack version too.

I've completed all of the worlds except for World 4.

The mappack is amazing graphically. I downloaded the non-modded version, so I might have to look into the texture mod later.

With the level design, there's quite a bit of, "Use a Koopa/Beetle to break the bricks". I personally found it a bit excessive. When I wasn't trying to figure out how to launch an enemy into a brick, there were still quite a few interesting features:

-World 5-3. This stage is both helpful and dreadful at the same time. I died here too many times, but actually ended up gaining lives from it.
-World 8 actually taught me a few things I didn't know about the game's physics. Definitely helped for the ending...

I'll definitely have to go back and try to complete World 4, and see if there's any other hidden areas I've missed. There were a few places I need to look for the actual solution, as well.

I'm downloading it now. I'll let you know what I think when I beat it.

EDIT: I gave up on world 2-2. This mappack is visually amazing, and the platforming parts were great, but there were just too many "smash shell into blocks" puzzles. It got really annoying really fast. I don't want to have to give up entirely on this mappack, because it is amazingly well put-together, but those "puzzles" are really just a time waster. I'm not trying to sound mean, but that's what they are.

Just downloaded this. Gonna play it tomorrow. I gotta go home and go to bed. I might not be on tomorrow so my input won't be seen for a while, but I will still tell you I liked it and how I think you did. I have high hopes for this! I look forward to the musics!

It is a bug, but I don't know how to fix it. It belong to Maurice.

I'm agree, I overused the shells puzzles. But in the game you never use the shell the same way twice, so I believe it's ok. And I personnaly find it less anoying than lasers puzzles ;)
MrCytosine wrote:I just played through your game, and I gotta say, that was the best mappack I have ever played. Period.

But why are there glaciers floating in a sea of lava in level 5-3? It seemed a bit... odd.

Also, you have to be the most depressed person in the world to write the song in the Mari0 mappack, because after listening to it for the first 30 seconds, I wanted to cry.

Anyways, congratulations. I hope it gets into the game as DLC, because it certainly looks like there's been 1 and a half month's worth of work put into it.
I compose sad musics, that's how I like it, but don't worry I'm a very happy person ! And I'm very proud of my lava glaciers, they are epic ;)

Thank you everypony for playing it.

I've used it two years without knowing it can makes musics, most people think it is just for drum loops, but it can do everything.

I guess I'm just not a "Super" player, I'm finding myself getting way too annoyed with the shell trajectory puzzles in 1-4. I'm going to try again later with cheats.

What if you created a version without the music...
would that be small enough?

or Maurice could post about it on the homepage for stab yourself :P

Awesome mappack and music! It's kinda too bad that Maurice isn't including this (right now.. maybe later?) but it's pretty easy to download it separately. Personally, I enjoyed it. I hope that you will make more of these. You're pretty good at it!

Edited:

Well, you got the spotlight on stabyourself.net! I'd say that's good enough for getting the word out, right?

By going into a map's "whatever.txt" you can have an extra world via warp pipes!
world 9!
Maybe you could even use...
THE MINUS WORLD! O.O (aka world m)
2 EXTRA WORLDS OF PURE AWESOMESAUCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ps i didnt play it yet doing that now...

I actually tried implementing a W9 via editing the .txt files by creating two separate levels with the same design, one set with a warp to World 7 and the other to World 8, then locate the one character that is different and change it so it warps to World 9 rather than World 7 or 8.

Either way, I think this mappack should be modified so that the difficulty doesn't rely on excessive use of Koopa/Buzzy Beetle puzzles in every level but rather through complex waves of enemies and obstacles. Plus some areas that require clever use of the Portal Gun.

Mmmmyep.

There's a few buggy warps here and there, at least one of which can really screw the player over. It was in the Bowser room of 4-4 (Pillars, fire chains, you need to hit a block for a mushroom), where the reset pipe puts you in the wall under the pipe. Several other reset pipes do the same; they're sending you to the same map, but the map doesn't have a from-self entrance so it uses the Mario start, which likely doesn't exist, so it uses the default location.

I also wish there were more mid-points in levels, since having to do the same thing over and over again only to screw up three rooms away is very frustrating. I probably never would have beaten 8-3 if not for the hidden warp pipe to the World 6 clone room. The world 4 clone room is EEEEEVIIIIIIIL.

EDIT: Where's the OST for the glitch track? ;)

I did manage to complete World 4 (which means I've completed every stage now).

World 5 (as much as I hate the jumps in 5-3) doesn't have any Koopa block breaking puzzles (that I can remember), and relies a bit more on portal physics, though still probably not as clever as the momentum puzzles in the World 8 stages.

Open "select mappack" thing.
Press 'M'.
Drag the mappack folder into the window that opens.
Make no profit as playing maps is a non-profit thing.

the author has to specify "allow download" for there to be a download button. Otherwise I suggest use google chrome, view source with ctrl-U, search for "streamUrl" and use any way you want to download the given urls ("streamUrl":"[download link here]")
Not sure how legal that is but works perfectly. Downloaded all of fuckmylife(deadmau5)'s songs this morning like this.

Yeah, I'm proud of this one ;)

EDIT :

There is now a new version : 0'Brothers_1.2

- I fixed some bugs with pipe
- New color for the bullet bill (very useless)
- More goombas in world 7
- An easier way to kill Bowser in world 2, because I found the previous way too annoying

If you had download the 0'Brothers 1.2, you just have to put the 0'Brothers_1.2 file into the Love.exe.

Here is the glitchy music, only the super players are able to listen to it :

Next week I'll broadcast some unused stuff (yeah, teasing).

Sorry bro, It's just that I don't get it, how a map like this that only relies on one thing for it's difficulty but still gets much more acknowdlegement than most other mappacks. Is it because it relies on scenery porn?

In my opinion, he did use a lot of shell puzzles. However, this mappack was acknowledged so much because of the amount of effort used. Baf definitely included many mechanics that the original Mario creators didn't use. With that and the advanced custom tiles, this is a mappack/mod that definitely triumphs against the rest.

It's the way I've decided to make this mappack, and I still think it's okay, puzzles with shells don't bother me. But, you're absolutely right SuperJustinbros.

Apologies if I sounded rude before. I'm in a much better mood now, and I'd like to say yes; A sequel/remake of 0' Brothers would be great. Though if I were to make any recommendations, I'd suggest there just being normal levels with little to no puzzles to solve and the challenge coming from tricky platforming and dodging waves of enemies and overall, surviving (though there are some areas you'd have to portal to) and levels that are based on solving Portal-based puzzles, more than three chambers per level dedicated to puzzles. As for the shell puzzles; I can tolerate them; just maybe only have six or seven brick-breaking segments in total (you can do more, but don't overdo them.) and feel free to mix them into the Portal-puzzles.

If you'd like any other recommendations, you're welcome to look at my own map pack in progress "Aozora" for ideas. I'm also giving you full permission to use it's tile set.
