I bet you thought this mappack was gone for good, didn't you?
WRONG.

Image http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?rb76owjrw2dfgnn Image

There's v0.5 for ya!

New features:
World 5!
Lives raised to 5 (by popular request)
World 2x is complete! It includes my favorite X level so far: 2-1x.
Minor changes to previous levels

Some extra notes:
5-3 may lag on you. There's just too many cubes scattered everywhere.
I've made more progress than you might expect; this is what I've chosen to release for now.

As always, please comment (even if you have already!), and let me know immediately if something's wrong.

Hm, I got an exclamation point. Must've done something right. If only I knew what that was.

This mappack currently has 107 downloads. It's been up for almost two weeks. The previous version had 88 downloads. It'd been up for a few months. I've gotten more downloads on this thing than ever. That makes me really happy!

HOWEVER

This version has been up for two weeks... and gotten one comment. So out of 100 people or so to download it, only one has bothered to say anything? I understand that some people have already commented on a previous version, but for 100 people to download it and one to comment... that shouldn't be.

Please, please comment. Positive or negative feedback! Anything! Please tell me how I did.

I like this mappack a lot because I'm a big fan of the NSMB levels. It feels like I'm playing NSMB (add an 0 somewhere).

New Super Mario World 0.6! More insanity, more Goombas, and best of all, more levels!

v0.6 changelog
Worlds 1-5, 7, and... um... CLASSIFIED
Another X level or two (I think)
Flickery neon signs in World 7!
A lack of world 6 (just enter the pipe in the singular level contained therein)
Bugs! (That's my best guess, anyway.)

Looks like there will be another break, though... School has started, and I've been busy working on other things. But don't worry, one of these days, I will finish this! Keep commenting! (Thanks RW, mari0bros2, and freakstorm101!)

(Also, if you find the hidden secret, please use  spoiler tags .)

Image http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?rn9cxj4cs31fhbe Image

By the way, v0.5 had a grand total of 134 downloads. That's insane! Thank you, guys and gals.

You're welcome!

I'd say "thank you" in return, but that would trap us in an infinite loop. So, "you're welcome" will have to do.

DLC hasn't been updated for ages so it most likely won't
plus the fact that this isn't finished.

And willware I'd be willing to do some graphical modification mod that makes the graphics of the player and enemies fit (I won't be able to exactly replicate it so I may just high res some of the sprites e.g. mario.)

Thanks for the offer, but I'd rather save that for SE.

Another update in time for 2013!

Image http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?0pxa23dw2fs66au Image

Version 0.7 includes:
Worlds 1-7! No more skipping World 6! Though you might wish you still could...
No new X levels, and no more until after I finish World 8.
Extra pizzazz-y visual detail!
A wall of Lakitus!
The same secret  no hints !

Score tally:
NSMW v0.6 received 158 downloads.

ImageEXCITING FUN NEWS TIME!Image

I'll be kicking off a new advertising campaign secrets list! Each day or so for a week or two (how specific of me!), I'll post a random secret about New Super Mario World that you may not have known, ending with the public reveal of that one secret I keep alluding to.

Secret #1:
There are three warp zones in New Super Mario World, and each is hidden in one of the flipped SMB levels. The first is at the end of 1-2x; the second is at the end of 4-2x; the third is also in 4-2x, but is accessed via vine. You can look them up by searching for a level map of SMB 1-2 and SMB 4-2. The warp zones even lead to the same levels!... for the most part.

But two of them require going over what was the top of the level, and the other is in a block at what was top of the screen. Since the levels are flipped vertically, how are you supposed to reach them?

I'll let you figure that out for yourself. Or I might reveal it later in this series.

psst...

Try testing Room 2-2_2 as Big/Fire Mario. It's possible to get stuck there since Big Mario can hit the celling and not reach the elevated platform, and keep bouncing on the faith plate.

Big Mario isn't supposed to get there anyway.

Well I somehow reached the room as Big Mario (it's easier to pull off slides w/o momentum than in SMB)

Then I'll fix it for the next release. It needed better hiding anyway.  Good luck with the light bridge maze in the following room.

Alright, guys 'n' gals, it's time for Secret #2!

This one isn't as much of a secret as the last one, but there are five 1-Ups in World 1-1 alone. Can you find them all? Hidden near the last one is the entrance to 1-1x. To enter, you need to press down on a structure that's just floating in midair with nothing attached to it. It's pretty obvious once you find it.

A double post can't be bad in this case... right?

Secret #3 reveals the location of my favorite X level, 2-1x!

Pressing down above that fancy chunk of rock takes you to an iceberg. You might want to get rid of the brick blocks on top of the entrance first...

And now, Secret #4.
Remember in Secret #1 when I left y'all hanging with how to reach the warp zones? Let that no more be a secret! The answer is...

...invisible, nonportalable, solid blocks.

Cheap? Maybe. But it was the only way I could think of to hide the route.
The routes to the two warp zones at the end of 1-2x and 4-2x are only one block tall, so Mario must be small to enter them. (This is mostly a space limitation.)
The way to reach the vine in 4-2x is to jump on a single, invisible block under it. There are invisible coin blocks on the way up (because those were how the player would reach the vine in the original SMB); be careful with those.

I will probably end the secrets list on #5 tomorrow, because I'd rather not break SJB's record quintuple post by keeping this up for another half a week. And I think I might be annoying some mappack makers by keeping my topic at the top of the list (a mostly unintended side effect).

If you want a suggestion, maybe some form of "exit" pipe from the X levels incase a player doesn't feel like playing through an X level.

Mediafire is just about the easiest way you can download anything without the darn loading times. Still there's popups and adds but if you're using a browser that's not IE, you may be able to find an adblock.

Which bug? You're in Minecraft mode in the editor? What are you talking about?

Also, to those of you waiting for Secret #5, sorry about the wait, but it will be just a little longer. I just went back to school and have been getting settled in the past two or three days. I should be able to announce it today or tomorrow. Specifics are eluding me recently, so I'm not giving a concrete time.

I saw that same glitch too but on the smb mappack. I just beat the game on level editor and pressed the button peach said to press. Then I went back to the level editor and there was the glitch.

Slight bug. When running over the top of the map in level 1-1 at the very beginning, right after the mushroom and coin blocks, apparently I tripped some kind of logic wire that shouldn't have been tripped. Immediately I got the dreaded LUA error box.

It's not so much a bug as it is that the logic circuits weren't properly shielded against me rummaging around the top of the level, looking for secrets ;)

You ran into a laser that I put up there. It's there so that you don't go over the top and skip the level. I'd recommend you don't do that if the tiles are at the very top of the screen.

I played World 1 and it was awesome. Very creative stuff there. And you really know your way around those laser inputs. I really liked 1-3. And it's more apparent to me that a level does not have to be very long to be hard, or good.

Are the X-Levels and the inverted levels the same things? I found an inverted level in 1-2 I think.

After sixteen months in development, I have finally finished New Super Mario World!

Hopefully, after all of this time, I've made something of quality that you will enjoy! You can view the details and download it in the first post.

For the record, the previous version got 261 downloads, so I hope plenty of people are hyped for this final (hopefully) release!

As always, have fun, and don't forget to tell me what you think of it!

Playing right now. Congrats on getting the thing done :)

However you never fixed the "Impassible Auto Level" bug that's in the "Daredevil Room Entrances" if you enter as Big Mario. I know they're areas only intended for Small Mario, but if you understand the controls enough, you can wiggle Big Mario into just about any opening. You can stick an upwards-laser one tile from the ground; it will damage but not kill you, and this was a trick I used in A0zora's original build in the World 5 Castle.

Also, are you sure you tested 0-1's first "puzzle" properly? I had to abuse glitches just to pass it.

Thanks! I'm having trouble telling myself that I finished it, actually. I keep thinking, "I need to finish - no, wait, it's done. But what about - no, I did that too."

I don't intend it to be fixed; it's not a bug. Just go in the proper way.

I just did it without any trouble, so you may have to rethink your solution or something...
Stand right next to the first laser so that you're lined up perfectly to fit between the next two (via portal) and stand safely on the switch.

It's not really easy to tell what's the "proper way" the first time around since the entrances to both standard bonus and daredevil rooms are not easy to tell apart. Aike I said, through both glitch and portal abuse, they're easy to find and enter. And regardless, getting stuck as either Big or Small Mario in an intermission and forcing a reset is something I dislike in maps.

Despite what I said there, you have a very good taste in level designing, and like I've said with a few others on this forum, I could see you as a big contributor to A0zora once I reboot it.

it's been a DECADE since i've finished this mappack and i haven't looked at it in years and years! so i revisited this mappack on stream, and oh god, i don't know how any of y'all put up with this nonsense. seriously though, the amount of love and support this project got back then helped shape me into the level designer i am today, so THANK YOU for encouraging young me to keep at it! love you all 💖
