Stabyourself is a big inspiration for me, so thought I would go ahead and post my demo,

Not sure if I can embed the HTML5 Game so will just link and screenshot

Game Demo Link http://www.giraff3.com/Games/Oops

Image

The game is about a pink blob called Oops, you as the gamer help Oops navigate his world. I havn't added audio yet but he says Oops! When he falls/hits an enemy object.

I welcome any thoughts on the demo that would help me design the full game any better.

Thankyou

The game would've looked better if you would have spent more than 5 seconds on each sprite.
And the game is just another generic platformer.

But the game plays sorta nice I guess?

Good job, you managed to rip off the platformer example game layout from Construct 2 and put it in a game with MSPaint graphics. I applaud you for that.

I don't know anything about Construct 2 but if you did any level design or programming for this then good job I guess...?
Sounds like Doormat knows what he's talking about though.

No really she has to be dead serious.
Absolutely no attempt at anything.
The computer did all of this by itself, you put absolutely no work into this.
Even the OP was either automated by magic or is a figment of our imaginations.

EDIT: To clarify, this was sarcasm, because Firaga's review is completely unconstructive and could not possibly help in any way.
Not that I blame her. It's kind of hard to criticize people when you're in complete shock over what you just saw.

Thankyou all for your comments it has been a big help. I have decided the next stage for my projects to finish learning LUA and to try the LÖVE framework, I will be doing this over the summer/have Cisco exams to revise for too but this will be an interesting project; lots of useful posts here too on Stabyourself about usinge the LÖVE framework.

I will attempt to make my games with LUA and let you all know how I get on.

If you want to learn the Love2D framework, watch some of the tutorials by sock munkee dev:

They're pretty good. 9/10

Doesn't cover everything but will definitely will give you a nice foundation to build off of.
