I'm working on a top-down bullet hell for Stabyourself in which you pick a user, and, against another user's AI, you scroll across a 4800x600 pixel field, battling mini-enemies ((stabyourself game characters)), and, with a bonus for how far into their field you are, but without being able to cross past the other user.

You spawn on the left end of the field. They spawn on the right end. There will be an assortment of random permabanned users to fight. Left-click attacks deal more damage, but have no knockback. Right-click attacks have about a quarter of the damage of left-click attacks but are useful for knocking back the enemy user to gain ground and thus more damaging attacks.

Before I finish it, I want any of you who want to be in the game to give me an image of a character representing you that faces upward with a forward and left moving animation ((backward and right will be a reversed loop of your images)) ((keep a top-down shooter in mind)), and a mood and speed for which you want me to make your theme to.

I shan't disappoint.

Questions before I attempt to art:
What if the head is bigger than the body? Wouldn't the sprites be the same since no leg movement?
Also, looking up makes no sense. How would you aim? And would the head face different directions when you move?
Mood? Speed? Theme? Like, music, or are we getting our own battlefields?
Maybe a template is in order for the sprites?

[[READ THIS POST BEFORE ATTEMPTING ART]]

Actually, submit a different sprite for head and body. Make a 8x8 image for each and I'll use that for your characters.
I will rotate the head image and animate the body image.

You are getting your own theme songs, and the battlefields will be banners based upon the various stabyourself games.

As long as your image is 8x8 the moving animations can be as long as you like.

How does the body work for me? My character's head is bigger than my body. (My avatar is just my character's head)
So do I still need to make it?

Just submit a head.

Mind you, yours is a cube and your body might be visible at its forty-five degree angle.

Yes, so that I can use the image angling function to rotate your head, and leave your body facing straight, to give an aiming illusion. What is incomprehensible about it?

Also, heads can be animated just as bodies can, with continuous animations.

Image
I couldn't manage to make it aim, so have fun with this retarded character.
Anyway, my theme should be a slightly faster than medium tempo, and slightly super meat boy-ish. If possible, make the song with fake 8-bit noises.
(sorry I'm picky)

Oh, all of them are going to be 8-bit. Define SMBish?

Just that type of music in general. Or if you heard that song, you'd think it sounded like it was from super meat boy.
And do I get a prize for being the first participator?

I've decided to change the enemies to sprites from various Stabyourself games that depend on what battleground is chosen.

Is it possible that you could give an example image of how you want our characters laid out? I tried re-reading how you want them made and am still slightly confused as to how you want them.

Other than that I'm interested to see where this goes.
