Cobalt Runner is a project I've been working on for about a week now. I had done a lot of work for it about two years ago for the PSP, but after two months of concurrent development, the project had entered a state of hiatus while I dealt with other things, and eventually died off completely. Now the project is being revived and is running off the PS Suite public SDK for the Playstation Vita.

Some changes have been decided upon, some pretty huge gameplay decisions. The new premise is that of a social game, more or less. You create levels by placing objects ala Trackmania or Modnation Racers, and then can race against people online for global high scores or just chill out and play game modes as the map cycle rotates through user generated maps.

Anyway, the video I'm about to show you is about 5~6 days into development after rigging up the basic framework for the rest of the game. I had just added the wallrunning mechanic before recording this, check it out!

Unfortunately, the only way to record off-device was to use my iPhone camera. I'll have some crisper shots soon enough, though.

Really excited for this again, stay tuned and I'll keep you guys updated.

This looks like it will make a very fun game, just a shame I don't have a PSVita.

It's a custom engine built from the ground up for the PS Vita, built on top of the PS Suite. It uses C# and OpenGL.
