ive extracted the files to a single folder and have downloaded love, every time i try to run mari0 1.6 i get this error. I REALLY WANT TO PLAY THIS GAME!
it mentions data execution prevention, ive tried disabling it but windows says DEP cant be disabled for mari0

From what I recall, DEP issues are pretty much unfixable unless you're willing to dig deep.
You could try downloading the latest Löve (https://love2d.org/builds/) and the Source version, then run it. Not sure if there were any DEP related changes, but it's worth a try.
