Re: Here's a completely original idea: post your desktop!
Currently running Windows 8 consumer preview. I want to like it, but I can't. The basic desktop stuff and improvements are great but the Metro cruft needs to be spun off for touch-devices only. It's awkward, opaque, and still quite unfinished and broken.

(( Why I don't like Applejack: she's a walking stereotype and her lines are painful to listen to. She talks like my mother when she's drunk and trying to act all mega-Texan. ))

Re: Make your own pony
A totally unprompted sketch from a friend on IRC that I found to be a pretty well accurate depiction of my character. I've got a commission in the works (by the very talented Pastel), but it's kind of lost in time.
Re: Cat Mario
The point of really hard games isn't to annoy you. It's an extreme challenge, that if you manage to beat, whatever that requires, feels like such a triumph. By the way, when I first played any of these games, I always laughed at the random things that killed me. More fun that way. I don't find them...
Re: Cat Mario
xXxrenhoekxXx, this kind of game has a design that would normally be a terrible idea, but it's made on purpose. Many other games take this approach, punishing the players for something they couldn't possible predict, like (spoiler alert, I guess), the killer clouds or platforms that suddenly fall w...

Re: The perfect game. What would yours be like?
How about a game that transforms 20-something slackers into upstanding young citizens, complete with social and communication skills, a college education, and a snappy wardrobe? Also it ends world hunger, religion, and anti-LGBT feelings. Is this some kind of secret veiled message to the people on ...

I can read most code but I just can't be arsed to code much. I prefer using Python if it suits the task, otherwise I don't do it because I have minimal experience with C or any good low-level language.
I don't code anymore anyway now that I've switched majors. I bang rocks together.

Dwarf Fortress - a very fun strategy/management/worldbuilding game with a truly amazing amount of depth and a profoundly opaque UI. If you can figure out how to work it, you'll probably love it. Base game at http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/ and the game with some useful tools at http://www.bay12f...

It's a bit plain -- I never use my desktop to hold things. And, typically, chrome is on the left screen, not the right. Enjoy my schedule, future stalkers.

Oh, dongs.exe. That's a good game.
Re: Ponies.
I didn't really think it was funny, but then my tastes in humor have kind of changed lately.
So I'm not going to spoil the leaked episode, but if you're waiting to watch it you should seriously just break down and watch it now. It's amazing.

Steam's pretty great. I like having to be connected to the internet in order to switch to offline mode so that I can play my games when my internet is out.

I do, but I haven't played in probably a few months, not since that one large update. It was pretty fun for about a week or so, give or take. I still need to bump up my armor a bit, though.
Re: Ponies.
Well can you explain it to me? Is the show funny? Isn't it made for children to watch? Or is it funny solely because it's not typical for young adults to like such things? The show gets on well because it is funny, it's cute, it's rather well-animated, and it's reasonably well-written. It's a girls...

If I joined after the 5th of February it doesn't not make me a real fan. Hi, I'm Chloe, a geoscience major in Texas. I love ponies, platformers, df, ponies, and ponies, in that order. I was a bit of a coder back in the day (before switching majors), and while I have a bit of familiarity with python and lua, it's hardly enough to bear mention. So while I would love to do ...

I think it'd be neat to make a pony-themed graphics pack. Might do that if I find time this semester.
